Integrative Medicine (IM) and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)

Integrative Medicine:  
Integrative Medicine (IM) is the combining of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) with mainstream conventional medicine (CM).  The goal of IM is to promote the health and wellness of the whole patient.  There is some high-quality scientific evidence of the safety and effectiveness of this system of healing according to the National Center of  Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).  Please see our link to NCCAM.
At NHIMA, we use lab tests to evaluate anti-oxidant and intracellular levels of nutrition.  This aids patients in modifying their nutritional intake to improve their overall nutritional status.
We also utilize lab testing to assess brain hormone (neurotransmitter)production. 
This can help in assessing how well medicines for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD,  Sleep Disorders are working and may suggest the use of natural proteins to help them work better.
